Nallikari is Oulu’s most well-known and largest sandy beach, with a gently sloping shoreline and spacious beach area that make it an ideal destination especially for families with children. The beach stretches for about one kilometer, offering plenty of space for sunbathers. It is also accessible: a mat-like boardwalk leads to the shore, and beach lifeguards can provide a special all-terrain wheelchair for safe access to the water.

Amenities include daily lifeguard supervision from 11:00 to 19:00 (approximately June 15–August 15), several changing cabins, public restrooms and showers (open 9:00–21:00), barbecue areas (bring your own firewood or purchase from the Holiday Village), outdoor fitness equipment, beach volleyball courts, and a playground. The beach area features accessible pathways and is located near the Hietasaari nature trail.

Valkiaisjärvi – a clear-water lake in Hiukkavaara

Located on the eastern side of Hiukkavaara, Valkiaisjärvi is a popular swimming spot among locals. Its clear waters and forested surroundings offer a peaceful alternative to the seaside.
