Mallassauna

Located in Pikisaari, Mallassauna offers the perfect combination of relaxed atmosphere, good food, and soft sauna heat. Guests can use the sauna free of charge, making it easy to simply sit back, unwind, and let the warmth do the rest.

Before heading to the sauna, it’s worth trying the drinks from organic brewery and the flavours of the German-Finnish kitchen. The cosy courtyard beach adds a touch of Hailuoto island vibes to Pikisaari — and not just symbolically, as the sand has actually been brought from Hailuoto. Mallassauna showcases Oulu’s sauna culture in a relaxed, slightly rugged, and charmingly unique way.

Black Sauna

Black Sauna is a year-round public sauna in Kempele, featuring an authentic wood-heated sauna with no advance booking required. Tickets can be purchased on-site. The experience also includes access to a cold plunge pool, which is included in the ticket price. The area also features hot tubs as well as private sauna, meeting space, and hot tub rental options.

Ouluntulli Ice Swimming Saunas

Located in the Ouluntulli quarry area, Ouluntulli Avantosaunat offers a rugged sauna experience around the clock. The area features two wood-heated saunas: a public sauna open to everyone and a private bookable sauna. The saunas operate on a self-service basis 24/7, and the stoves heat up in approximately 15 minutes. Firewood and lighting supplies are ready to use. During winter, visitors can also enjoy ice swimming.

Sauna Rafts in Oulu

Lainesauna

Lainesauna is a floating sauna raft located at Saarela Harbour, offering both public sauna sessions and private bookings. Between sauna sessions, you can take a dip in the river — or in winter, into the ice hole — and relax in the hot tub while admiring the riverside scenery.

During public sessions, the sauna raft remains docked and open to everyone. The raft is licensed to serve alcohol, and minors are welcome only when accompanied by a parent or guardian. Public session prices are:

€17/person for sauna + ice swimming access per hour
€20/person for sauna + hot tub access per hour

Olosauna

Located in Toppilansaari along the Oulujoki River, Olosauna combines sauna bathing with the peacefulness of nature. Visitors can cool off directly in the river, and during winter there is also the opportunity for ice swimming. Olosauna has separate changing rooms for women and men.

Koivuranta Sauna Raft

The Koivuranta sauna raft, located on the shore of Värtönranta, is a true Oulu classic. This traditional sauna raft offers both stationary sauna sessions and sauna cruises along the Oulujoki River. The soft heat of the wood-fired sauna combined with constantly changing river scenery creates a unique experience.

Ice Saunas

In winter 2026, Oulu hosted a unique ice sauna built collaboratively during community ice-building workshops. Once completed, the sauna was open to the public for a week under the management of the Oulu Sauna Association before becoming part of the Frozen People festival.

The ice sauna also played a central role during the Winter Swimming World Championships (2–8 March 2026), where an extensive sauna world was built around the event. The highlight of the experience was the world’s largest ice sauna, constructed in front of the competition area.

Olosauna

Olosauna is a modern village sauna where the sauna experience takes place right by the water. From the sauna raft, visitors can swim directly in the river, and the café on the raft can also be visited without a sauna reservation. Sauna sessions are conveniently booked online.

Koivuranta Sauna Raft

At Koivuranta sauna raft, soft sauna heat, ice swimming, and river scenery come together perfectly. Before or after the sauna, visitors can enjoy treats at the raft café, and the hot tub makes it easy to lose track of time. Sauna sessions must be booked in advance — remember to bring your swimsuit and towel.

Lainesauna

Located at Saarela Harbour, Lainesauna offers public sauna sessions along the Oulujoki River on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Relaxed sauna heat and beautiful riverside views make this an Oulu classic. Spots are booked online in advance.

Tuira Beach

Located close to the city centre, Tuira Beach offers a public winter swimming spot open to everyone. Shower and changing room keys are available with a seasonal fee from Raksila Swimming Hall — after that, it’s time to take the plunge.

Ouluntulli Ice Swimming Saunas

At the Ouluntulli quarry area, you can enjoy the sauna whenever it suits you. Two wood-heated saunas are open around the clock, including a public sauna for everyone and a private sauna available for booking. The stoves heat quickly, firewood is ready to use, and in winter the experience is crowned by a refreshing dip in the ice hole.
